Wii U Said to be Gearing Up for Q2 2012 Release; Likely to Come by Start of April

July 6, 2011, By Sanjeev Ramachandran

We have been hearing lots on the Wii U, of late. Though we all thought it would take a while to come to our midst, we have now stumbled upon revelations that tell us the possibility of the Wii U arriving most probably close to April 1 next year. We just hope that isn’t an April Fool’s Day prank waiting to happen.

Reggie Fils-Aime president of Nintendo of America has been quoted as saying that the Wii U won’t launch until “after April 1st.” The ‘close to April 1’ date comes along with reports of 2012 Q2 release date being touted. Apart from the release date rumors, we also get to hear that the Wii U will stream video to the controller itself!

That is no doubt a tough job, and makers Nintendo will need to get some awesome battery power injected into the controllers if they are to do it successfully.

But then that would also mean the console might come as heavy piece. This, we think, is a probability because heftier batteries would no doubt add weight to the device.

We are just waiting to see how Nintendo will manage such a weighty situation when the world wants a lighter piece.

In case you tend to wonder if Wii U will push behind the Wii, have no fear of any such sort. Fils-Aime has clarified that the Wii and Wii U will be sold side-by-side when the new system launches.

Let’s wait for Q2 of 2012 to dawn so that we get to play.
