Sharp Galapagos EB-W71LJ-H Tablet Visits FCC

July 1, 2011, By Sanjeev Ramachandran

FCC has got yet another device to cut and slice. Sharp’s new Galapagos tablet is the one waiting in line for approval.  Sharp has always had a way with their model naming and the latest product is named EB-W71LJ-H.

If you remember, we had informed you some months back about Galapagos 003SH and Galapagos 005SH that bear 3.8-inch autostereo 3D screen with a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels. These devices boast a screen space larger than that of the Nintendo 3DS.  From what we have seen, Sharp’s way of naming their models kind of hint at their device’s screen size.

So with EB-W71LJ-H on, we expect a 7-inch model to hit the shelves as the Galapagos already have 5-inch and 10-inch models in the market. Apart from a confirmed 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi radio, we have no data on specifications.

It is said that Sharp has requested the FCC to keep their trade secrets in the closet, until the time is ripe for launch. Going by their earlier releases, we expect a device with pretty good resolutions and screen size.

Guess we will have to wait until the release date or pray for some leaks. Since it’s all hushed up, we hope Sharp has something up their sleeve.
