Nokia C5-00 Smartphone Updated; Nokia C5-00 5MP is the New Version

Nokia C5-00, after more than a year of its release, has finally got an update rushing its way. The new version – Nokia C5-00 5MP – will, needless to say, come with a new camera with EDoF (enhanced depth of field).

The changes are most likely a combination of operator requirements and the pricing and availability of the constituent components. Nokia hasn’t yet issued a detailed announcement for the C5-00 5MP, instead they have released a data sheet and few photos on their press site and have also added the device’s specifications to their developer site.

The variant will also be getting a boost in the memory section. Its internal storage will be perked up from 50MB to 270MB, while the RAM amount will be doubled to 256MB.

The device that comes with a candybar form factor will retain its 2.2-inch display at 240 x 320 pixels, integrated GPS and the built-in stereo FM radio. It Runs S60 3rd Edition Feature Pack 2 (S60 3.2.2).  The device, initially, will be available in two colors – white and warm gray.

Most probably the C5-00 5MP will replace the C5-00 in the market and will have similar pricing (that would be around $192).

Given the on board services (Ovi Maps, Messaging, Music) and hardware specifications (GPS, 5MP camera, 3G connectivity), the new update represents excellent value for money, offering one of the cheapest ways to get a service-capable Nokia smartphone.
