Apple iPhone 5 Production to Kick-Start this August; Late Q3 Launch on Schedule?

June 27, 2011, By Sanjeev Ramachandran

Talk on the next iteration of the Apple iPhone has been keeping us engaged for quite a while now. It seems like we get to hear something or the other about the iPhone 5 every passing day, and we wish these rumors come true – at least a majority of them, that is. The latest on that domain is that the next generation iPhone might start production during the summer – that means well ahead of the earlier mentioned late Q3 launch. The scheduled release seems to be right on track, right?

We just stumbled upon a revelation by Morgan Stanley analyst Katy Huberty who says:

“Apple’s next iPhone will begin production in mid to late August and ramp aggressively into the calendar fourth quarter.”

So the prediction is that the iPhone 5 will see a late third quarter release. This piece of news is sure to get the rumor mill going into full swing as to how the device will look like.

There have already been speculations of the device featuring an expanded 3.7-inch screen and sporting a faster A5 processor and an updated 8 megapixel camera.

If you would remember, we had also earlier told you about the device’s case, which is likely to come in a metal chassis so as to enhance antenna sensitivity. Whatever the case, we’ll see how Apple is going to play its cards. What are you planning to do? Wait for the iPhone 5 or do you want go with the iPhone 4?
