HP TouchPad webOS Pivot Aims at Apps Boost

June 24, 2011, By Sanjeev Ramachandran

The fight for app supremacy is on. In a bid to increase the availability of apps and to make webOS more interesting, HP has decided to launch their very own webOS Pivot magazine for the TouchPad. In order to supplement the HP webOS App Catalog, the Pivot magazine will be concentrating wholly on apps, and will be available to all webOS TouchPad users. It is expected to hit stores on July 1st.

Hewlett-Packard’s latest development will be looking to rival the number of apps on Android or iOS. The monthly publication is basically a curated digital magazine that will include articles, tips and other features, all with links to relevant Web OS apps that users can download. Pivot is designed to broaden developer exposure and create a dynamic marketplace for the burgeoning webOS developer community. Going by what Richard Kerris, the vice-president of webOS Worldwide Developer Relations at HP feels:

“Pivot brings app discovery to a new level for customers and developers alike”.

Encasing original content by journalists and photographers affiliated with leading publications, Pivot will include visually driven editorial pieces, columns from notable guest writers sharing their perspectives on digital culture, feature stories focused on applications around specific topics, and in-depth reviews – all accompanied by vibrant photos and illustrations on the TouchPad’s brilliant screen.

Content will cater to the specific interests and requirements of a given region, thus appealing to a wide range of international customers.

As of now, Pivot will publish initially in English, French, German and Spanish languages and it can be updated over the  air directly on to your TouchPad.

As we all know, the market is overwhelmed with a daily flood of debutantes piling on apps which makes it tough for you to select one. So with the right focus, we reckon, Pivot can provide you with an enriching experience.
