AT&T HTC ChaCha Offers Sneak Peek; July 17th Release Likely

June 20, 2011, By Sanjeev Ramachandran

Much has been written about the HTC ChaCha ever since the phone got showcased at the MWC last February.  We have now been treated to an image of the Facebook phone, as it will look when it finally comes riding on AT&T. Going by the image, we think not much has changed since the QWERTY candybar device showed up first. However, it isn’t that there aren’t any changes. Apart from the fact that the Facebook button has undergone a change, we also get to see that the function keys have been re-coloured and re-arranged.

As the world awaits its release, folks at Pocketnow feel that the launch date of the HTC may be sooner than expected. Take a look at the image posted alongside and you can see the mention of a July 17th date.

To brush up your memory, the HTC ChaCha runs Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread and will come powered by an 800MHz processor. On the storage front will be 512MB RAM and 512MB ROM. Other features include a 2.6-inch 320×480 display, a 5 MP camera with LED flash and a VGA front-facing camera for video chatting.

In case you’re thinking of 4G, let us tell you the handset will enabled 3G, Edge and GPRS for high speed net usage. There isn’t any doubt that the specs can leave you amazed. The ChaCha, with its portrait QWERTY keyboard along with a touchscreen and easy Facebook access, is sure to be a hit with the social networking-obsessed crowd.
