Verizon Thunderbolt June 30th OTA Update Likely to Bring Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread, Amazon Appstore, Skype Video and GTalk Video Support

Ever since the last update rolled out on to Verizon’s HTC Thunderbolt offering, users out there have been battling a bit of trouble in the form of random boots and the like. The carrier has been working on resolving the issue for quite some time now, but we haven’t  been able to get wind of when exactly it will come – until now, that is.  Though it was mentioned that it might see a roll out sometime during the second half of June, we are still waiting to know as to exactly when.

The latest on that front gives us something to hope for, indeed. Folks at Android and Me have been tipped by a Verizon insider, who has dropped hints that the OTA fix  will be available on June 30th.

A couple of screen grabs makes that seem likely too. The screenshots also make us think that the roll out may not bring to the Thunderbolt devices just a maintenance update, but a few add ons too.

The upcoming update is expected to add Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread, pre-installed Amazon Appstore, Skype video functionality, and GTalk video compatibility. That sounds awesome, doesn’t it? But then, we will have to see them for real to believe they are actually coming.

We will have to wait till June 30th for that. In the meanwhile, all you Verizon Thunderbolt owners, tell us if you are aware of what all are coming to you.
