Apple iOS 5 Rolls Out; Awesome Features Include Notification Center, iMessage and Twitter Integration

June 7, 2011, By Sanjeev Ramachandran

We all knew this was coming, right? When the Apple-hosted WWDC got off to a start, we were all looking forward to this and more. Apple boss Steve Jobs didn’t make us wait indeed. The next iPhone and the iPad Operating System update were unveiled at the event. The new OS update – dubbed iOS 5 – comes with a lot of new and exceptionally good features. In fact, it comes packed with 200-plus features.

The iOS 5 has got an all-new Notification Center, a new iMessage application, and a PC-free design. The Notification Center helps to easily view and manage notifications such as new email, texts, friend requests, and more on iOS devices in one place without interruption.

The new iMessage messaging service will allow sending text messages, photos and videos between all iOS devices at ease. The new PC Free feature, as the name suggests, helps users to activate and set up their iOS device right out of the box and get software updates over the air without the computer.

Another feature – the Newsstand – enables purchase and helps organize your newspaper and magazine subscriptions. As Steve Jobs stated at the event, iOS 5 is designed in such a way to seamlessly work with iCloud in the Post-PC revolution that Apple is leading; hence it makes the new operating system’s most remarkable feature. As we had already told you, the iOS 5 also integrates Twitter into itself.

More enhanced traits including mails, reminders, calendar, games, Wi-Fi, video mirroring, multitasking, Safari Reader and the like make the new update something really big and worth looking forward. The iOS 5 beta release will be available to iPhone, iPad and iPod touch users this fall.  We are sure all you iFans are getting the update as soon as it comes. If you aren’t,  tell us why!
