Huawei MediaPad Tablet Set for CommunicAsia; Images Surface

June 2, 2011, By Sanjeev Ramachandran

Hurray, it’s Huawei now cementing their slot in the tablet terrain! The Chinese hardware maker has announced that they are ready with a new tablet, christened MediaPad. If you are somewhere in Singapore when the CommunicAsia Expo gets off to a start on June 21, we suggest you have your eyes trained on the Huawei booth. The wraps will fly off the new slate there.

Likely to be a part of the manufacturer’s Ideos lineup, the new device just landed in our inbox in the form of pictures. Details are scarce though. The tablet will most probably run Android OS, but there is still no mention of what version it would be.

The company claims that the MediaPad is the smartest, smallest and lightest tablet ever and is guaranteed to transform the consumer’s entertainment experience like never before. Take a look at the images posted alongside.

Judging from all the available details, we assume the tablet to be a small, slim, entertainment-focused device that comes in a charming design. We guess we will have to wait a tad more so that we get to play with it at CommunicAsia.

Huawei has been doing good in the budget phone segment, and we expect the same to happen with their tablets too. Stay tuned for more details as we head for Singapore.
