Apple iPhone 5 Sporting 8 MP Camera Arriving this August; Fresh Rumors Talk Of a SIM-Free Device

May 31, 2011, By Sanjeev Ramachandran

How about clicking away to glory with an 8 mega pixel shooter on an Apple iPhone? Sounds absolutely amazing, right? If the grapevine is honest enough, we might get to see the next iteration of the iPhone hit the market with an 8MP camera. Now, if you were expecting the iPhone 4S to delay the iPhone 5, we get to hear that the iPhone 5 will indeed arrive this August. And that model will carry the 8MP snapper. Remember we had brought you similar talk a month ago.

As if the 8 megapixel camera isn’t enough, there is one more aspect that could make us wait in anticipation of the iPhone 5. The iPhone 5 is said to be made with a SIM-free design, and might have the same design as that of the iPhone 4. We now wonder what’s with the curved glass design that was being spoken about a few days ago. Earlier rumors had also spoken about a slimmer form factor the device would boast of.

To come powered by an ARM Cortex-A9 processor, the Apple iPhone 5 is said be in the works with around 4 internal antennas so as to help the device function as a world phone. That could as well mean that Apple is looking at pushing the device on both GSM and CDMA networks. AT&T and Verizon customers, are you listening? Meanwhile, there are also people who aren’t willing to commit as to whether the ARM Cortex-A9 will be a two core processor or not.

As had been hinted earlier, the iPhone 5 will hide under the bonnet a Qualcomm chipset and also will have an enhanced LED flash. The best we like about these rumors is that it might have the 8megapixel camera. Gosh, that makes our wait more interesting. Tell us if you are enthusiastic about playing with the 8 MP snapper on your iPhone 5.
