Samsung Galaxy Tab 4G Slate in the Works; Roll Out Later This Year (Video)

May 30, 2011, By Sanjeev Ramachandran

Sammy seems unstoppable. In the midst of all those legal wrangles with Apple, the South Korean company is looking at making a big splash in 4G territory. Already a major player in the slate market, Samsung is now believed to be positioning themselves to stay on top of the tablet scenario. So, that makes us believe that Samsung will be rolling out a new Android tablet that will run on the much-hyped fourth-generation network technology.

From what we get to know, Samsung will be launching a 4G version of their Galaxy Tab series slates, soon after the 10.1 inch variant of the Samsung Galaxy Tab would mark its arrival this June. That means, if you are willing to wait a tad more, you will be treated to some blazing fast data downloads, compared to what 3G networks are currently offering.

WSJ has quoted J.K. Shin, president of Samsung’s mobile communications division, as telling Dow Jones Newswires that the transition to 4G is “inevitable” for tablets, because the bigger-volume content they handle requires faster downloads. Going by what Shin says: “The race for 4G has already started.”

That could also mean that the 4G tablet that is in the works currently will be a spruced up model of the Galaxy Tab .

It isn’t  just the 4G tablet that Sammy has in the pipeline. The company is also likely to roll out a third version of their Galaxy S smartphone soon – may be during the first half of next year.

Seems like, Samsung has their hands full. We are just waiting to lay our hands on the 4G tablet, hoping to play with the blazing fast speed that is being promised. Do you want to join us?
