Following the expectations of many, the rollout of the long-rumored Facebook integration update has started for the Xperia devices. The earliest recipients of this push are the Arc and Play, and other Xperia owners need not worry as the update is heading your way too!

The pivotal spotlight of the update falls on the much awaited ‘Facebook Inside Xperia’ functionality,   which was recently shown off in London. The new feature allows you to synchronize your social media with other aspects of your phone such as contacts, calendar, and photo gallery. The “Facebook inside Xperia” is designed to work perfectly side-by-side with Timescape and the Facebook for Android app.

The download includes Android Gingerbread 2.3.3 and responds with fixes and improvements based on the feedback Sony had received from the consumer base. Other enhancements of the update include WiFi stability, improved battery performance, HD video recording exclusively for Xperia Arc only and smoother and better touch responsiveness.

Don’t bother if you haven’t yet received the update as yet, as Sony Ericsson has confirmed that it’s only rolling out gradually due to issues concerning individual markets and carrier branding.

The company hasn’t given a specific deadline, but they had mentioned that the completion of the rolling out of the upgrade will take a while.

If you are one among the lot who have already got the update, share with us your views. Has Sony succeeded in keeping their legacy flowing?
