Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 Sports Android 3.1 Honeycomb; Tweet Hints at a Release Soon

May 25, 2011, By Sanjeev Ramachandran

Samsung had put the Galaxy Tab 10.1 up for pre-order a while ago and now as if following up on that, they have got into another conversation with their fans. In short – they tweeted! If you are prepared to believe the recent tweet sent out by them, it seems like Sammy is fully set to release their spectacularly thin Galaxy Tab 10.1 onto the US market. The company’s tweet did not say the specific launch date, but our gut feel tells us that we are close to a launch date.

What strikes us here is that the tablet will come running Android 3.1 Honeycomb. This upgrade definitely means that you can expect to see a lot more features appearing on the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1.

The redesigned UI with a faster graphics and smoother transition capabilities are a few of the hot features packed inside. If you would remember, Google had sometime ago tweaked that the ‘color, positioning and text make UI elements easier to see, understand, and use’. It all sounds so interesting, doesn’t it?

The tablet has additional ports so that you can add USB accessories such as keyboards, mice, game controllers and even digital cameras.

The best part about this is that when you connect the accessory, the Galaxy Tab will itself search for the relevant application and launch it.

It also needs to be mentioned that you can also resize the home screen widgets, and many of the installed applications such as browser, gallery, calendar and the like. We expect the device to ship in the US on June 8th. Tell us your take on that.
