Xbox 360 PayPal Update Is Live

May 19, 2011, By Christian Davis

The latest update for the Xbox 360 is going strong. Thanks to the most recent addition, the complete integration of online service payment PayPal is now available. Once you’ve linked your PayPal account to your Xbox LIVE account, you will be able to use it as a billing option. Purchasing Xbox LIVE Gold subscriptions, Microsoft Points, and Games on Demand are all possible through PayPal.

This is available in the US and other countries; excluding: Brazil, Chile,  Colombia,  Czech Republic,  Finland, Greece,  Hungary, India, Japan, Russia, South Africa, South Korea, and Taiwan. That’s a pretty big chunk of the planet but hopefully they’ll be included in the update as well at a later date.

The update will be fully implemented over the next couple of weeks so not all players will receive this update automatically. Patience is a virtue.

Last, but not least, tagging along with the PayPal update is a new auto standby feature. If your console is left idle for more than an hour it will automatically go into standby, which in turn will help reduce power consumption.

Who’s going to switch from using their credit card to PayPal when the update rolls around? Let us know in the comments.
