Samsung May 24th New York Event Put Off for Another Date; Wait for Galaxy SII Extends

May 17, 2011, By Sanjeev Ramachandran

Remember the invite that Samsung had sent out for their May 24th event that was to be held in New York? We had all been expecting the roll out of Sammy’s devices at the event. The bolt has now come with the company letting people know that the event has been postponed.

The event was a much anticipated occasion that was to open owing to expectations of seeing the probable release of the US version of Samsung Galaxy S II smartphone. Samsung has now informed via email that the event is  postponed to a later date. However, neither a rescheduled date nor a reason regarding the delay has been specified by Samsung in the email message (reproduced below for you to read).

Good afternoon,

The Samsung Mobile event scheduled for May 24th in New York has been postponed to a later date. We apologize for the inconvenience. We will be in touch soon with more details.

Thank you

As you all know, the Galaxy S II is one of the most awaited gadgets of the year, with its awesomely created super AMOLED Plus display, dual-core, and a great battery life. In case you haven’t yet taken a look at what the device will carry with it here’s a refresher:

  • Android 2.3.3 OS
  • TouchWiz UI
  • Dual core 1.2 GHz processor
  • 1GB RAM
  • 16GB inbuilt memory (expandable to 32GB).
  • 116g in weight
  • 4.3 inch super AMOLED Plus display
  • Scratchproof Gorilla glass
  • 8 megapixel camera  with autofocus and LED flash
  • Video chat
  • FM radio
  • A-GPS
  • 802.11 a/b/g/n WiFi
  • DLNA, Wi-Fi Direct
  • 1650 mAh battery

Though we had expected to see the Infuse 4G also on May 24th at the event, the device was announced on May 5th. So it was expected to be Galaxy S II all the way. Now that the event itself being taken off the calendar, we are just left to rue over the fact that we had been having some high expectations that have now crashed. Do you think the Galaxy SII will now come any soon? Tell us why.
