Amazon Kindle Color Tablet Confirmed; iPad Killer?

May 13, 2011, By Sanjeev Ramachandran

We have been hearing lots about the many iPad killers in the making. Most of them have been keeping us waiting for long. In what could be an exciting piece in the tablet sphere soon, Amazon has confirmed that a new Kindle tablet is in the works at their labs.

The confirmation, in fact, adds substance to our earlier report that Amazon is building a tablet. We had started hearing such talk ever since September. It was said that Amazon was looking at bringing in Android OS to their upcoming tablet.

The confirmation comes from none other than Amazon CEO Jeff Bazos. He has advised the industry to ‘stay tuned for the device that will soon roll out of the Amazon stables. Amazon has been on top these days with the success of their own app store.

The eReaders have seen huge success, and now its time for a tablet of their own. As per what Bazos believes, the “new technology would sit alongside its existing Kindle range and plans, rather than replace them”.

Meanwhile, an obvious query that would pop up in your minds would be this. Will the iPad killer tablet mean that the eReader market also will see some ambush happening? The CEO has the answer:

“We will always be very mindful that we will want a dedicated reading device. In terms of any other product introductions, I shouldn’t answer.”

So what we expect now from the Amazon stables will be a color Kindle Tablet alongside their existing eReaders. We will wait for the specifications that the device would come with. Are you game for this one?
