Samsung Galaxy Tab P1000 Gingerbread Update Rolling Out Now

May 12, 2011, By Sanjeev Ramachandran

We are being served with news saying Samsung has started rolling out Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread update for the Galaxy Tab P1000. To go live today, the update will come to lucky Italian Android fans initially, for the original 7-inch Galaxy Tab.

Guys at Italian Android community Androidiani Forum have got wind of the first schedule of the update, and would be availed via KIES, Samsung’s useful device management tool. Also, the Galaxy Tab happens to be the second device of Samsung that’s officially getting the Android 2.3.3 updates.

When the original Samsung Galaxy Tab P1000  was launched last year in October, it came with the Android 2.2 Froyo. Well, most of the Galaxy Tabs running Froyo on board won’t be doing the same for long hereafter. As per what we have stumbled upon, it appears that the Galaxy Tab P1000 will neither be upgraded to Android Honeycomb nor to Android Ice Cream. But, it is indeed a consolation that the device is at least getting Gingerbread.

We are quiet unsure of when the device update would be made available in the US. Let’s wait patiently as it does not appear to be long. Users in other countries should also expect to get Gingerbread soon.
