Nokia May 17th Event at Athens May Witness Windows Phone 7 Arrival

May 10, 2011, By Sanjeev Ramachandran

The next major step with regard to Nokia’s recent deal with Microsoft is currently coming to fruition. The Finnish major has announced that the Windows Phone 7 event will be held on May 17th in Athens. Going by Nokia’s build up for the event, we tend to expect that a handful of smartphones running on Microsoft’s Windows Phone 7 will see the light of the day at the event venue on that day.

Nokia has already started sending out invites for the event. With the words “Save the Date 2011.05.17 @ 20:00 Athens” inscribed on it, the invite is luring developers and tech enthusiasts to Athens in Greece where all the action will get underway at 20.00 hours.

Though we have enough reasons to believe that the company has some bigger plans, we are yet to get any solid indication on that. Nokia might unveil the Windows Phone 7 smartphone there, that’s what we think.

Hope you remember the last event conducted by Nokia, last month, had introduced their latest Symbian Smartphones. It is not clear whether the company has plans to strengthen their smartphone range or not at Athens.

Microsoft had already unveiled its Windows Phone roadmap for the remainder of 2011 at MIX last month. This makes us strongly believe that Nokia has something bigger in mind for the Athens show.

Stay with us for more updates from the Nokia event. Also let us know what your take on this is. All said, the event could really be something worth the wait for those who are looking forward to see a fruitful Nokia-Microsoft partnership.
