In the midst of all the rumors of an early launch of the Wii 2 console, the latest official news from Nintendo is a price drop on the original Nintendo Wii console. The 8.5 inches long, 6 inches wide and less than 2 inches thick Wii has dropped to $149.99.

Featuring a compact design that would make the gaming system an obvious addition to the TV system, the Wii console is white in color and can be placed horizontally or vertically. In addition to the lowered price, the console can be availed in either black or white.

To excite the gamers in town, Nintendo will also offer a Mario Kart and a Wii racing wheel. The Wii remote and the Nunchuck controller are also included in the package.

This means that game players will be able to frolic in their go-kart racing wheels with Mario and all his adventures with the Mushroom Kingdom Pals right out of the box. Now, how does that sound?

The all new black Wii Wheel can be also bought at a discount retail price of $9.99. Nintendo is all set to make the holidays an extravaganza as they have also dropped the prices on a range of Wii games including the Legend of Zelda; Twilight Princess, Animal Crossing; City Folk, Mario Sluggers and the Wii sports.

The move from the company can be seen as the red carpet for the release of the much anticipated  Wii 2. If you are going to play some games here this season , please do let us know.
