Sprint Motorola Xoom WiFi Only Version Confirmed as Arriving this May 8th

The earlier leak we came across a few days ago had asserted that the launch of the Motorola Xoom WiFi only version on Sprint will happen on May 8th. We now have official word from Sprint on that, stating the device will hit  stores on that day for sure. The tablet will come priced at $599.

As you all know, the Motorola Xoom is the first tablet running Android version 3.0 Honeycomb OS. Offering a slew of innovative features by way of widgets, multi-tasking experience, fast and easy web browsing, notifications, customization as well as video watching and plying games with a PC-like experience.

Major highlights of the device include a 10.1-inch widescreen HD display, a dual-core processor that runs at 1GHz as well as 1GB of RAM and 32GB onboard user memory. The device supports Adobe Flash Player 10.2 Beta – this can be downloaded from Android Market.

The Xoom WiFi only version features two cameras, a rear-facing 5-megapixel camera with flash that can capture HD video and a front-facing 2-megapixel shooter for Google Talk with video chat.

The tablet also serves as an excellent e-reader offering access to more than 3 million Google eBooks and apps from the Android Market. Google mobile services such as Google Search, Gmail, Google Maps with Navigation and 3D interaction, Google Calendar, Voice Actions, and YouTube  are also supported. Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR and GPS are also featured. The 3250 mAh Lithium-ion battery powers the device.
