April 20, 2011, By Sanjeev Ramachandran

The much spoken about Android-powered tablet to be launched by Toshiba, which has been said to be in the works under the supposed name ANT has launched itself into headline space. This time around the news is that the company has filed to trademark the name Thrive for their upcoming device. The device has been specifically described as a “tablet computer.”

Hope you remember our report regarding the ‘ANT’ moniker of the device. In fact, it was then reviewed as an unattractive and dull name. That information was from a listing by Amazon, and it could have been using an incorrect placeholder.

Contrary to that, we also have the latest report of the manufacturer coming up with a new name for their device. Also, the company has established a range of domain names with their newly secured trademark name ‘Thrive’. These include ToshibaThrive.com, ThriveTablet.com and the like.

The device will come equipped with a 10.1-inch touchscreen of 1280×600 resolution and is expected to come with dual cameras – a  2 megapixel front-facing camera, and a 5 megapixel camera on the rear. The product will also boast of HDMI output, USB, and 720p upscaling as well.

The tablet is expected to hit stores next month and will ship with a price tag of $450. Will you be among the ones going for the Thrive? Tell us more on that.
