Apple iPad 3? Component Makers Rubbish Next Generation iPad Specs Rumors

April 13, 2011, By Sanjeev Ramachandran

First it was the iPad. Apple then followed it up with a  second generation device. As if that weren’t enough, we have been fed with rumors of an iPad 3 in the making. However, component makers don’t seem to be amused.

Upstream component makers feel that all the talk of an upcoming iPad 3 don’t have an iota of truth in them. We had recently come across rumors that the next generation iPad – the third variant –  will be launched in the third quarter of 2011.

We had also been coming across speculative thoughts that Apple was preparing to adopt AMOLED panel or Full HD resolution support into this new device.

You might remember Apple had recently released their latest tablet PC plan. The company has plans to make the new product capable of supporting higher image quality than the current iPad 2.

The company may even feature AMOLED panel or panel that support Full HD standard to attain the above mentioned quality. If the rumors are pointing towards this forthcoming device, then it is unlikely to expect the same this year, as the project itself could be in an initial stage.

If you have noticed, the AMOLED technologies are still mostly controlled by Samsung Electronics. If intends Apple adopt it, the company will be in a situation where the key technologies are held by its competitors (Apple has fierce competition with Samsung in the tablet PC mart).

The component makers have also said that the new rumored device should be an upgraded version of iPad 2 or an iPad 2 version that supports a different communication format.

Moreover, we expect the iOS maker to come up with such an updated device, since they had released its iPad 2 in early March and are seeing mass shipments. So, as the component makers say, we just need to take reports of the iPad 3 appearing in a short term with a pinch of salt. What do you feel.
