April 12, 2011, By Sanjeev Ramachandran

The slimmest and lightest smartphone from Samsung, the Galaxy S II will be available in shops across the UK shops starting May 1st. Sammy has outed details regarding the release and the much-awaited smartphone that sports Super AMOLED Plus screen technology for the first time is expected to get a warm welcome from the UK consumers.

With just 8.49 mm in thickness, this super slim smartphone features a dual core processor running at 1.2 GHz speeds, making it a super fast device too. Running Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS, Galaxy S II gives an exceptional experience with its brightest display which doesn’t eat up your battery life as other displays do. The credit goes to the Super AMOLED Plus technology used.

Another major feature of the device is an 8 megapixel camera which offers 1080p HD recording and playback. With exceptional multi tasking power provided by the dual core processor makes it optimal for gaming, high quality video play back and multitasking.

To add to the connectivity options, the super fast Wi-Fi facility of the device offers up to 21 Mbps of download speeds. Samsung’s patented AllShare technology allows sharing pictures, movies, and music with other devices and Samsung’s new Kies Air present in the Galaxy S II offer the convenience of managing smartphone content from a PC via local Wi-Fi connections. Moreover the Bluetooth 3.0+HS technology brings down the data transfer rates considerably.

However, we wonder why Sammy is just vague about the arrival in stores. Why hasn’t the company specifically mentioned where all the device would come. We guess we may have to go on a search spree to get you those details. Before you decide on buying the device or not, you may want to read our two part review of the device here & here.
