Lenovo Next-Gen Le Pad Tablet this Sept/Oct; Expect a Slimmer Version

Lenovo CEO Yang Yuanqing left everybody amazed with his recent announcement at the opening banquet for the 2011 Chinese IT Leadership Summit. His statement that a second generation Le Pad will be launched in September or October this year has sent hopes soaring.

You will agree that it is a very small time period for a second generation device to roll out since the original Le Pad got a much dragged and delayed launch in China.

The original Le Pad (pictured) is still due to get its global launch, and is expected only by June. It is not clear if the company is aiming at a global launch for Le Pad in September or October, or whether it would be just a Chinese launch. Both ways, there will be only three or four months’ difference between the two launches.

The second generation Le Pad, according to Yuanqing, will be slimmer than the original one. It is learnt that a separate team has been pressed into the development of the second generation Le Pad.

The team is said to be successful in bringing the development of the second generation Le Pad to a fruitful phase in just nine months.

However, despite disclosing that the second generation Le Pad will be thinner, no clue has been given about its detailed specs. Stay tuned as we go hunting for more.
