HTC Merge on Cellular South Next Month: to Come with Amazon App Store for Android Pre-Installed

March 30, 2011, By Sanjeev Ramachandran

Though we were tipped early about HTC’s plans to launch their Merge on more than a single carrier, we have been pondering our guess machine so far regarding where it will surface in the US other than on Alltel. Now we have got a solid answer for the question with nation’s largest privately owned wireless communication provider, Cellular South has announced that they will be bringing HTC Merge to their network soon.

The next special thing about the whole thing is that when HTC Merge hits Cellular South, it will be the first Android phone to have the new Amazon App Store for Android pre-installed. Just think how amazing it will be to switch between the conventional Android market which is already present in all Android devices and a new app store from Amazon.

Amazon app store allows users to buy apps for Android devices and it offers features like one-click payment options, detailed product descriptions including screen shots and personalized recommendations. Moreover, Amazon app store will be offering a paid app free for customers every day.

As you know the device is a classy one with its full QWERTY slide out keyboard and the combined power of Android 2.2 and HTC Sense User Interface. The 3.8 inch touch screen display and 5 megapixel camera make it a lovable device.

However, Cellular South has so far made a plain announcement that they will be bringing HTC Merge to their customers. They hope it will be possible by next month. However, there is no word on pricing and possible contract offers from the carrier.
