Motorola Droid X Gingerbread Update Rumored to Arrive This Sunday

March 25, 2011, By Sanjeev Ramachandran

You have been hoping that your Verizon Motorola Droid X performs to good satisfaction, we know. But you have always wanted your device to have a higher version of Android OS, right? Motorola is now answering your prayers – we learn the device will get Android 2.3 Gingerbread update in a couple of days.

The grapevine has it that the device will get the Gingerbread update by midnight, this Sunday. Speculations are that the update will be first offered to business clients, while all other users will get it before the end of the next week.

Rumors, by the way, have to be considered rumors, we suggest. The Gingerbread update might be on its way, but then neither Verizon nor Motorola have yet announced anything in this regard.

A tweet we stumbled upon hints at something of that sort, though we are yet to ascertain the truth about such a rumor. We just hope the rumors will turn true.

As you all know, the Motorola Droid X for Verizon comes with a lovely 4.3-inch 854×480 touchscreen display and packs a 1GHz TI OMAP3640 processor under the bonnet.

Complete with a package that includes an 8 mega pixel camera with dual LED flash capable of 720p HD video recording, HDMI out, 8 GB of built-in storage (expandable up to 32GB), the phone had made a name as one the feature rich devices when it was launched.

We guess we should look forward to Verizon to hear from them as to when exactly the update will come about – if at all it comes.
