T-Mobile Sidekick Promo Video Out; Specs & Features Detailed

March 18, 2011, By Sanjeev Ramachandran

Not long ago, we had told you about how rejuvenated an avatar the Sidekick is coming with. Post all those press briefings and info that came about via insiders, the T-Mobile Sidekick is now before us in the form a promo video, anchored by none other than the person who knows the device very well.

The promotional stuff has been explained on video by T-Mobile’s Product Manager Joe Fernandez, and see how convincingly he has presented the device in just about 1.43 minutes. If you haven’t yet got to see that, go nowhere: We have it here for you (posted below).

The T-Mobile Sidekick video that plays in front of us makes us hit the replay button over and over again. The most striking visuals are those that let us know how the phone slides open with just a simple soft jab. We, for sure, like the way the phone opens.

Now, let’s look at the rest of the features. Fernandez details the device and tells you how useful it would be to us – if at all we are going for it, that is. Once you open the phone to make the five-row QWERTY key board visible, you will see that the landscaped display has been positioned n such a way that is slightly tilted toward you. That’s something made possible with the ‘pop-tilt’ hinge, making possible comfortable viewing angles.

We guess it’s the Samsung 1GHz Hummingbird processor that’s inside that makes the navigation and performance so very fast and hassle free. The fast, touch motion performances indeed make us think about going for a buy. The Sidekick comes with a user interface that is some form of TouchWiz, but we have a feeling that the UI has been customized for the SideKick 4G.

The 3.5-inch touchscreen and the five-row QWERTY enable easy text messaging, even if you want high volume text inputs. The Android 2.2 Froyo has taken the place of the erstwhile Danger OS and that makes the device even more alluring. The device also comes with a single front-facing VGA webcam.

The video explains the unending possibilities the Sidekick will offer when it comes to accessing the hundreds of thousands of apps in the Android Market. Entertainment is one major aspect the device will open up before you.

The video is a charmer, to say the least. The way all aspects are elaborated in a nutshell makes us wait for Spring to dawn. We just need to make up our mind as to whether we will buy the matte black or pearl magenta Sidekick.

Hit the play button below and you will realize there’s lots more about the T-Mobile Sidekick. Let’s also wait to see what kind of a price tag the device will carry along with it.
