March 15, 2011, By Sanjeev Ramachandran

It’s been quite a while since we last heard about a possible rejuvenation therapy that was being administered on Samsung’s Sidekick. The Android-powered handset, riding the T-Mobile airwaves, just got a new life with some upgrade to redefined 4G speeds.

The re-born device now comes with stylish looks, an awesomely designed keyboard, redefined messaging options and upgraded 4G. The official announcement of the rebirth as a 4G device has come about finally, though we knew this was on its way. Expect the retail roll out this Spring.

The Sidekick 4G adds to the design lure compared with the earlier model. The device comes with a 3.5-inch touch screen, five-row QWERTY keyboard and is sure to make a mark as a gadget that would bring forth some easy messaging options.

The company claims that Sidekick’s Group Text feature will lets customers create, name, manage and participate in reply-all group text conversations, enabling them to lead their network in conversation and social planning.  This apart, the Cloud Text functionality will enable users to text with friends or groups across platforms.

Powered by a 1GHz Hummingbird processor, the device will sport Android 2.2 Froyo with TouchWiz on top and a front-facing camera. Multitasking is yet another alluring feature the device offers, with the Sidekick 4G’s jump key enabling you to quickly switch between active applications, even during a phone call.

The 4G capabilities will come on top of the list when you think of the upgraded handset. The Sidekick’s Media Room enables you to listen to music, watch videos, movies, YouTube, T-Mobile TV and Slacker Radio, apart from accessing loads of content available otherwise.

The Media Room also brings to your palm an integrated media player and Internet radio.  Get set for the roll out. We will soon bring you the pricing details too.
