iPad 2 sales cross 500,000 in US just 3 days after its launch: Apple & Steve Jobs sure to be elated!

Seems like all those who doubted how the iPad 2 would do in terms of sales and if Honeycomb tablets would knock it off of its perch have got a thumping reply from Apple. The iPad 2 has just hit the 500,000 mark in sales in the US, according to the latest estimates and that is just after 72 hours of release! No matter which way you look at it, selling over half a million units in less than 3 days of launch is a huge success story and considering the lines outside Apple stores, the million mark is not too far away.

Remember that the initial iPad also sold equally well and despite the launch of other tablets on Android Honeycomb recently like the Motorola Xoom and the 10.1-inch Galaxy Tab, it seems like there is nothing stopping people from buying iPad 2. While some of the stores have already gone dry on the iPad 2 supply, others are promising to deliver it in 2 to 4 weeks time.

The iPad 2 will arrive in Europe and across the globe on March 25th and in case you want to get one, then placing a pre-order might be the best option forward. Impressive start for iPad 2 and the fact that it came both in white and black versions might also have helped immensely. Now Apple will be hoping that the trend continues till the launch of iPhone 5!
