Viewsonic ViewPad 10 Tablet Now Available for Purchase; Make the Most of Dual-Boot Tech

March 8, 2011, By Sanjeev Ramachandran

It’s been a while since we last heard about the Viewsonic ViewPad 10 tablet. After an official announcement came some time ago, there seemed to be a bit of silence on that front. Don’t get disappointed yet, the device is now available for you to pick.  US customers can now purchase the dual-boot tablet.

Being made available for $599 (16 GB model) and $679 (32GB model), the tablet can be bought at retail stores in North America now. We said dual-boot, because the tablet has capabilities to boot into either Microsoft Windows 7 or Google Android OS. Sounds nice. Don’t you think so?

We would like to buy the device not just for the dual boot capabilities alone. The Windows and Android boost are indeed alluring, no doubt. Apart from these properties, the Viewsonic ViewPad comes with a wide 10.1 inch display with a 1024 x 600 pixel resolution, and packs within a 1.66GHz Intel Atom processor and 2GB of RAM. Multitouch is an add-on. Why should we say no to this one?

We are, however, left to choose from the a 16GB version and 32 GB model. While the 16GB unit comes with Windows 7 Home Premium and Android 1.6 o, the 32GB version is spruced up with Windows 7 professional and Android 1.6.

Now that’s a tough choice to make. Whichever piece we go for, we are sure our business and entertainment needs will be fully satisfied by this cute piece of dual boot technology.

If at all we are worried about spending some money on the device, it would be only because the tablet packs a lower Android version – 1.6. But then the option of Windows 7 Home Premium or Windows 7 Professional can offset such worries we guess.

We have decided to have a go at this Viewsonic tablet. Are you getting yours?
