HTC EVO View 4G Spotted in Trademark Applications; Will it Come to CTIA 2011 as a Tablet or a Smartphone?

March 8, 2011, By Sanjeev Ramachandran

When trademark applications are spotted, they are bound to trigger talk of a new device in the works. As is the practice, a mystery device is up for dissection by the tech press yet again, and this time around, two trademark applications found floating just ahead of the CTIA 2011 event make us too speculate of this mystery gadget. Going by the intricacies, we – like others of our ilk – too are prompted to guess that the device could be a HTC piece that would go by the possible name  of HTC EVO View 4G!

No one out there seems to have any clue whether the device is a tablet or a smartphone. However, going by the details in the trademark applications (you may see them here & here), we need to believe that the name  of the upcoming HTC device is EVO View and that it would sport 4G capabilities.

Expected to be seen at the CTIA 2011 that gets underway next month, the device is likely to be Sprint’s version of the HTC Flyer. But that’s not something  we would want to confirm at the moment. However, if it is Sprint’s version of the HTC Flyer it could well come complete with CDMA 3G support and WiMAX radio.

Meanwhile, there are also reasons to think that this one could be a tablet too. However, we haven’t been able to find the tablet mention in the applications. All we could find is mention of a “portable computers” section.

We would not want to hazard a guess here. Instead we would love to wait for more stuff in the form of leaks or official info. And, CTIA being just round the bend, we should be heading there. Watch this space, there’s a lot coming your way.
