Verizon iPhone 4 Unlimited Data Plan to vanish by this summer

March 2, 2011, By Shawn Wagnon

It was too good to last for a long time and that is exactly what we are hearing as of now. Verizon Wireless is planning to phase out the unlimited data plan for Verizon iPhone 4 customers that is currently on offer. The $30/month unlimited plan that Verizon is offering was in an attempt to take customers away from AT&T and
it seems to have worked fine till now. But it will not last beyond this summer.

This comes after Verizon Wireless CFO, Fran Shammo informed the decision to its investors. This and the fact that Verizon is a bit concerned about customer backlash once the new iPhone 5 is out. The unlimited data plan is being taken away just in time to accommodate more bandwidth for the Apple iPhone 5. With the Verizon iPhone 4 becoming outdated in mere matter of months after release, Verizon fears there will be more than few angry consumers.

Obviously Verizon either has good reasons for knowing this well in advance and still going ahead with Verizon iPhone 4 launch or they just did not think this though in the long term. Maybe Verizon expected a lot more than the current lukewarm response to the iPhone 4 on its carrier and now feel the cons of the decision outweigh the pros. Either way, the unlimited data plan is soon set to vanish away…
