BlackBerry PlayBook rumored to hit stores on April 10th

March 2, 2011, By Shawn Wagnon

This is been such a long wait and if you are a fan of the BlackBerry PlayBook, then it would have also been an excruciatingly painful one. But that will end in the early part of April according to the latest news that is coming in from sources close to RIM. The PlayBook was uncovered via leaks and has been around for such a long time that the wait seems like an eternity.

It is said that the BlackBerry Tablet OS will reach Gold Master status on March 31st and that should clear the way for an April 10th launch.

This probably will see it hit stores more or less around the same time as an Apple iPad 2. But we obviously are not sure at this point if Apple can deliver iPad 2 in late March or if it will indeed also hit store shelves in early April. (update: iPad 2 will actually start shipping on March 11th, both the white and the black models)

RIM promised the PlayBook in the first quarter of 2011 and they are obviously waiting till the very end of that period to bring one out. We really do not have too much problem with it as long as it comes with all the promised features and applications on the launch date itself and need not be shipped back midway for stuff (Much like the Xoom).
