LG Optimus Pad (G-Slate on T-Mobile) priced at $699.99 by MobileCity: Release Date still uncertain

March 1, 2011, By Shawn Wagnon

Seems like the LG Optimus Pad aka G-Slate will not burn a hole through your pocket after all. The Honeycomb tablet was initially rumored to be priced around $1000. But it is fair to say that no way was LG going to make any sales at that price. And that has now been confirmed with the Optimus Pad being priced at $699.99. So are you willing to part with $700 for the 3D-enabled Optimus pad?

The thing that separates the Optimus Pad from the rest of Honeycomb pack is its 3D capabilities. If you are wondering what you would get for the $700 spent on the LG Optimus Pad, here is a glance at the specs and features:

• 8.9-inch Touchscreen
• 1280×768 Screen Resolution
• 1GHz dual-core Tegra 2 processor
• Honeycomb (Android 3.0) on the inside
• 3D capture
• Ability to view 3D content
• 2-Megapixel front-facing camera
• 5-Megapixel rear camera with flash
• 32GB Built-In Memory along with microSD card reader
• WiFi, 3G & Bluetooth
• 630gm in weight- Less than the Apple iPad

The Optimus Pad can record as well as play back 3D content, but you would still need 3D glasses to enjoy it in all its glory. So, the G-Slate is going to be out on T-Mobile for $699.99, but what about the release date? Nothing confirmed yet in that regard, but all reports point to a release at some point in this month.
