February 25, 2011, By Sanjeev Ramachandran

We don’t need to tell you yet again that the second incarnation of the Galaxy S from Samsung – Samsung Galaxy S 2 – is indeed an impressive and tempting device with an excellent spec sheet. The successor to one of the most successful devices from Samsung, its availability in the market has been a reason for anxiety for many Android fans. Now, they can take a relief as we have reasons to believe that the device will be available, starting March.

retailer website based in the UK is now taking pre-orders for the 16 GB and 32 GB versions of the Samsung Galaxy S 2 i9 100. The  16 GB version of the Galaxy S 2 comes for £510.

However, VAT rates should be added to this. The other version which is double in its storage capacity is available for £590 + VAT. If you are desperately waiting to get your hands on this new Android device running Gingerbread, you can pre-order the 16 GB version here and the 32 GB version here.

In case you need the full specs of the device, here they are:

  • Android 2.3 (Gingerbread)
  • TouchWiz 4.0 UI
  • 1 GHz dual-core Exynos processor
  • 1GB RAM
  • 4.3″ 480 x 800 Super AMOLED Plus display
  • 16 or 32GB internal storage
  • Up to 32GB micro SDHC
  • NFC ready
  • A-GPS with Google Maps including Latitude, Places, Navigation (beta)
  • SWYPE text input
  • 802.11 a/b/g/n WiFi
  • 8MP camera with autofocus
  • 2MP front-facing camera
  • 1650mAh Li-ion battery
  • 125.3 x 66.1 x 8.49 mm

However, before you hit the ‘buy’ tab, here’s a word of caution. The price for the 16 GB version listed on the site seems a little out dated.  It is expected to be a little more expensive at the time of launch. However, the site is reportedly giving a chance for the customers to make a second thought once the ultimate price is declared.

Here’s a hands on video we had shot while the device had been showcased at the recent MWC in Barcelona.
