Nexus S & Nexus One to get Gingerbread 2.3.3 today: Google all set to roll out the update

The updates from Android for the Smartphones are rolling out thick and fast. Not many Samsung users will agree with the ‘fast’ part of it. But we will let that pass as now news of android updates is reaching us on a daily basis. Yesterday Samsung Epic 4G received its Froyo Update. (Yup, you read that right. It is a ‘Froyo’ update for Epic 4G users) That seems to have made many happy. Then we heard the news that HTC Desire was going to get Gingerbread for sure.

Now is the turn of the Nexus S and Nexus One to join the pack and stand in line for the updates. Google has confirmed over Twitter that the Gingerbread 2.3.3 updates will start for Nexus S and Nexus One users starting today. They will take a bit of time to roll out, so patience is advised.

The new updates offer your Nexus S/Nexus One with near-field communication (NFC) capabilities and also a different approach to integrated Facebook contacts. Also there will be the usual bug fixes that come with an update. So, those with the likes of Droid Incredible, Droid X and others in the pack will have to wait for Gingerbread update a bit longer…
