MacBook Pro 2011 Specs, Features & Photo leaked ahead of the Feb 24th Release: 13-inch models confirm Light Peak aka Thunderbolt

February 23, 2011, By Shawn Wagnon

The MacBook Pro 2011 line-up has been in the spotlight for the past couple of weeks and Apple made the official announcement earlier that they would indeed launch them on February 24th, to celebrate the birthday of Steve Jobs. Now as nice a touch as that is we are obviously more bothered about what the new MacBook Pro line-up looks like and what they offer. Well, here is the very first look at the specs, features and a photo of it (well, partly).

Thanks to the guys at Macrumors, we have an early view of the 13-inch MacBook Pro even before its release tomorrow. This is apparently a low-end 13-inch MacBook Pro model and hence the spec sheet will obviously vary for others. Here are a few of the specs in case you do not want to read of the leaked snapshot:

• Core i5 two cores at 2.3 GHz 3 MB cache

• 4 GB of DDR3 1333 MHz

• Hard Drive 320 GB 5400 rpm

• Screen 13.33 ” with 1280×800 resolution

• Intel Graphics GPU HD 3000 with 384MB of RAM shared with main memory

• Superdrive 8x

• Thunderbolt still compatible with the I / O devices and high speed MiniDisplayport

• Camera HD FaceTime

• 32.5 x22, 7×2, 41 cm in dimension & 2.04 kg in weight

So, that should finally confirm the Light Peak that everyone was debating about (& we have to give a thumbs up to the guys who told that it would be available for sure), which Apple wants to call it the “Thunderbolt Port”. So we will go with that for now.

Check out the image of the Thunderbolt Port and while February 24th shapes up to be a very busy day, we are only seeing the beginning of Apple-time in the weeks to come. Remember that the iPad 2 is now coming on March 2nd for sure.
