Who would have thought that Minecraft would be such a phenomenom? The founder of Mojang and Minecraft, Markus Persson officially announced to Gamasutra that there is going to be an official iOS version of the game.

It will be released later this year thanks to new Mojang member, Aron Neiminen who is developing the port.

There have been numerous unofficial Minecraft releases on the iOS devices, but this is the first official. Persson said the iPad and iPhone devices will not receive all the updates that the original one received, but  features that “make sense” for the touch screen platforms.

Minecraft is still in beta stages and has been purchases 1.3 million times by gamers everywhere according to the official website.
