On one hand you have Motorola speeding up things by a couple of weeks with its own stuff and on the other hand you have the endless delay in the HTC Thunderbolt 4G. Being a lifetime fan of professional wrestling, let me put it as “There is only that much money in a chase and it cannot go on endlessly”. You can only hype up expectation that far and if you do not deliver in time, people will look elsewhere pretty soon. Not suggesting that it will happen, but Verizon Wireless better get their act together and soon.
While you cannot hold it against Verizon for not offering the Thunderbolt on February 24th, as they never promised it then, the wait seems to be stretching too far. Best Buy sources thought did point to that date and now it seems they will not be offering the Thunderbolt 4G starting 24th. The new rumored release date is February 28th, but do not take that too seriously right now. (With all that we have seen so far) A March release seems more likely at this point.
Unlike previously thought, the delay is not due to the Verizon iPhone 4 launch which states that no other device be launched in the next two weeks. That window expires come 24th. But the holdup is due to Verizon Wireless wanting the Thunderbolt 4Gto be “close to perfection” by release time. Begs the question of why it is still not good to go even at this late stage?
Either way, Verizon better make this quick before those who are undecided on the HTC Thunderbolt 4G start looking elsewhere. Of course, if you only want the Thunderbolt, you can wait. Can’t you?
