MWC 2011: Watch DeviceMag Hands-On Video of Sony Ericsson Xperia Play as it integrates mobile gaming sessions with Smartphone needs (FIFA 10 on Xperia Play Video)

February 17, 2011, By Shawn Wagnon

The Xperia Play is probably one of the most talked about gadgets in the past six months. That includes all gadgets on the planet and not just the Smartphones. But with all those rumors out of the way and now the mobile gaming-smartphone unit ready to hit stores soon, we got out own hands-on look of the Xperia Play- the world’s first Playstation mobile. To be honest, we thought it was one of the best things at the entire MWC 2011!

Sure, the Xperia Arc makes a style statement and the Pro and the Neo are there to provide different options (Read as ‘cheaper options’). There is the Atrix that seemed fine to start off, but then it gave a few on our team who tried it hands-on a real problem with the keypad while operating vertically. The tablets were cool, but the Xperia Play was the stand out for sure.

What you get with the Play is what you were promised- a Smartphone and mobile gaming unit packed into one. If you travel a lot and love those PS games, then this is perfect. We got our hands-on with the Play and also a bit of a look at how the FIFA 10 does on the Xperia Play. This being in Demo mode, there was a bit of lag, but that was not the UI fault. FIFA 10 looked great on it and there is no reason to believe that other games will look any less awesome.

For detailed specs, release and features list of the Xperia Play, you can check our hands-on review and image gallery. For those who already are well acquainted with all those, here is the video of the Play in action…

DeviceMag at MWC 2011 Hands-On with Sony Xperia Play:

We rate the Xperia Play very highly and some of us are already planning on taking it home (not from MWC, though that would be better) when it hits the stores. What is your take on it?
