Mobile World Congress Votes Apple iPhone 4 Mobile of the Year for 2011: We Accept on Apple’s Behalf!

February 17, 2011, By Shawn Wagnon

And I would like to thank my mom… Well, Okay. So someone tells that someone else could sue us for that. So, we will let guys from Apple make the official acceptance speech. Oh wait… They do not really care anyway, do they? For starters, they really do not bother to go to events like CES and MWC these days. The philosophy back at the Apple headquarters is that their own event is a big event anyway and they do not need platforms like these anymore to promote stuff.

But still Mobile World Congress did award the 2011 Mobile device of the Year to the Apple iPhone 4. This has been awarded for:

“great screen, sharp design, fantastic materials, and phenomenal ecosystem for app developers. In a tight race, the iPhone 4 built on the success of its predecessors to set the pace for smart phones”

Not bad for a mobile enterprise that when launched was dubbed by many as a project headed for doom. This should also sort out many out there who will tell you that the iPhone 4 is bad on cutting-edge hardware and software capabilities and is nothing but all style. It is a wonderful trendsetter that is here to stay and this probably backs the consumers’ decision of making the iPhone the top Smartphone in market today.

Moreover, Apple probably cares more about working on the next iPhone and iPad, than awards from event juries that they seem to have relegated to the backburner long back. Many of us use the iPhone 4 and we too are pretty happy with it. Now if you will let me get back to the speech…
