Waiting for the Xperia Play anxiously? Can’t wait to get your hands on it? Well, thankfully we did get ours on the Xperia Play at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. This one really is a fine integration of gaming fun along with a Smartphone unit. Here is our Hands-On look of the Xperia Play and also an exclusive image gallery from MWC for our readers…

Specs & Features:

• 4-inch multi-Touch LCD Display
• 854 x 480 Resolution
• Android 2.3 Gingerbread on the inside
• 1GHz Snapdragon processor
• Qualcomm Adreno 205 graphics
• 5 hours, 35 minutes of battery life to last a single game session
• GSM/CDMA Capabilities
• 5-megapixel camera with autofocus and LED Flash
• Timescape UI

Well, that should give you an idea of what the Xperia Play has to offer. Apart from the specs what we can tell you from our first hand experience is that the slide-out console device will not disappoint you in case you are hooked on gaming. While this is not the most powerful Smartphone you will be more than happy with the way it merges Smartphone features with gaming sessions.

If you are travelling or on the move and wish to be entertained all the way through with your favourite game titles and also want a mobile to go along that does email, media stuff and more, the Play holds its own. Something every other mobile would find hard to match. Smooth UI, fine graphics and perfectly cool in design.

Game Titles on Offer:

Sony has promised to give Xperia Play users a library of over 50 titles to chose from by the time Play actually hits the stores. There is the ‘exclusively made for Xperia Play & pre-loaded’ PSone Crash Bandicoot and several other titles that Sony PS3 users are well acquainted with. You have the WiFI hotspot multiplayer hosting feature as well.

Release Date and Price:

Latest rumours point to $400 for the Xperia Play and while nothing is official yet, it is something to go by. This after the European price of the Play was somehow leaked. The Release is set for March in the US on Verizon Wireless.

If you are looking for a Smartphone & gaming unit that serves both the functions well, then the Xperia Play does just fine. We loved going hands-on with the Xperia Play at MWC
