Windows Phone Update Details Confirmed

February 14, 2011, By Christian Cawley

Windows Phone has become one of the topics at the first day of the Mobile World Congress 2011, with Steve Ballmer enthusing over the details of the Nokia partnership and revealing details about not one but two updates for the platform in 2011.

Two Windows Phone Updates in 2011

To begin with the Windows Phone NoDo update – this is the one that adds copy and paste functionality – will be made available to users in March. This update has already “gone gold” and been sent out to the various Windows Phone manufacturers for testing, and along with copy and paste this minor update includes some performance improvements.

The big news from the Windows Phone stable this week however is that the Mango update – set for release in the second half of 2011 adds not just Internet Explorer 9 (bringing with it HTML5) but also Twitter integration into the People Hub.

Additionally those of you bemoaning a lack of access to Windows Live SkyDrive on Windows Phone will be delighted to hear that this is set to be resolved, with the likelihood being that rather than edit documents in the mobile browser they will now be accessible via the onboard Microsoft Office Mobile applications.
