Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo unveiled at MWC 2011: Specs, Features & More Detailed!

February 14, 2011, By Shawn Wagnon

Sony Ericsson has decided to unleash a trio of Android handsets at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. Many of us are already familiar with the ‘Xperia Play’ by now, but both the Pro and Neo are the relatively less-known. Both the handsets might have to stay in the shadow of the more illustrious Play and Arc for now. Even then, for those who do not wish to spend too much dough in the way of Xperia Play or Xperia Arc, here are alternatives.

We take our very first look at Neo at the MWC and you can sense that it is the deprived cousin of the Arc (Though we might be making it sound worse that it is!). This is Sony’s way of telling “Do not need the Arc or cannot pay for it, we still have options”. That, in no way is a bad thing at all. Here is what the Xperia Neo brings to the table:

  • 3.7-inch Touchscreen
  • 854 x 480 Screen resolution
  • 8.1 megapixel camera with LED Flash
  • 2 megapixel front-facing camera
  • 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon CPU
  • Bravia Graphics Engine
  • Human Curvature Design as in the Arc
  • Available in Silver, Red & Blue
  • 116 x 57 x 13 mm in Dimension & 126gm in Weight
  • Gingerbread (Android2.3) inside
  • 8GB microSD Card Included (Expandable up to 32GB)

The Neo might be branded as the ‘not so famous’ of the Xperia line. But with a clever pricing and decent marketing, this might end up surprising many with its success. Again, we emphasize the fact that not everyone needs ‘cutting edge’ mobile technology in their pockets and people are more than willing to buy Smartphones like Xperia Neo for if priced properly.

More on Neo and the others in the Xperia line from MWC 2011 to follow. Stay tuned…
