Samsung GT-C3222W Square Phone Passes Through FCC Gates

February 12, 2011, By Sanjeev Ramachandran

How about a square phone now? An FCC document discloses that Samsung has just got one of its future phones with a square form factor approved. The model, named GT-C3222W in the document, is expected to come with a sliding or flip-out keypad. However, there has been no confirmation from Samsung regarding the features of the device.

The FCC documents reveal that the GT-C3222W supports GSM/GPRS 850 and 1900 bands.  This hints at the chances that it may head to AT&T when launched in the United States.

Though nothing much about the details of the device is available now, the documents with the Wi-Fi Alliance show that a device with the similar model number has successfully achieved the interoperability certificate for IEEE standards 802.11b/g.

Well, just to remind you, this is not the first square shaped phone from Samsung. They have tried this uniquely square form factor with their Cleo model earlier. At that time, the Cleo had come with a folded keypad. Well, let’s wait and see what Samsung brings with the new square phone.
