RIM BlackBerry PlayBook to Cost $499.99 at Office Depot; Coming in Late April

February 10, 2011, By Leo Xavier

Earlier, we have seen a lot of rumors that had suggested that RIM will be bringing down the cost of its iPad killer, the BlackBerry PlayBook tablet, to less than $500. Now, according to a new leak, the device might cost $499.99 at Office Depot.

The leaked screenshot from Office Depot suggests that the upcoming tablet will have the above said price tag. That price will be for the device’s 16GB WiFi only version.

And that’s not all. The leak also talks about a launch date of “week 17”. If that is true, the device might be released somewhere between April 24th and 30th of this year.

But this actually makes sense. The above said release date is just a few days before RIM’s BlackBerry world conference scheduled to be held in Orlando.

But there hasn’t been any official confirmation on the leaked price. We will keep you updated on the matter.

Just to remind you, the BlackBerry PlayBook comes with a 1GHz Dual Core Processor, 1GB of RAM, a 7 inch LCD multitouch capacitive display with a resolution of 1024 x 600, microUSB, micro HDMI and DLNA connectivity, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR, and it will be powered by the QNX platform with multitasking.
