Arkham City Expands!

February 10, 2011, By Christian Cawley

The Batman franchise is on the move – again! Following the hardcore superhero experience of Arkham Asylum, the caped crusader returns in the even more awesome-looking Arkham City later this year, and the sequel to the Guinness World Record holder for the “Most Critically Acclaimed Superhero Game Ever” is looking likely to have quite an expansive storyline.

Arkham City expands into comic books

Why else would a new comic series, Batman: Arkham City, be announced as leading into the game’s release this Autumn?

Launching in May, Batman: Arkham City tells the story of what happens between the Arkham Asylum game and the new Arkham City game, where former Arkham Asylum warden Quincy Sharp has decided to close the famous madhouse in favour of establishing a maximum security “home” by the name of “Arkham City”. Even more interesting, Sharp has appointed Dr. Hugo Strange, a man who knows that Bruce Wayne is Batman, to run the prison.

Staying true to the Arkham franchise’s roots, each issue of this mini-series will be available digitally worldwide for just $2.99 and are written by Batman: The Animated Series writer Paul Dini, who also scripted both Arkham games.

Batman: Arkham City is expected to be released in Autumn on Xbox 360, PC and PlayStation 3.
