Dell Adamo Line Dead and Gone!

February 9, 2011, By Sanjeev Ramachandran

Adamo is dead and gone! The laptop line that was created to take on Apple’s MacBook Air range has been pushed to the pages of tech history. By withdrawing the entire line of Adamo 13 devices, Dell has also ended some worthy competition to MacBook Air.

First outed at CES 2009, the super slim Adamo 13 series can return a blank search on Dell now.  The Dell page says the entire product range is “no longer available.” The focus now seems to be on the heavier, thicker but faster XPS 15 and 17 models.

The latest Dell action comes as no surprise, though. A journey down memory lane would throw open the manner in which Dell had been constantly announcing price cuts for the Adamo 13 devices. Soon after it was launched as a competitor to MacBook Air, the company had brought good news for customers by announcing a price reduction and a speed update.

The device that was offered incorporating a slower ultra-low voltage Core 2 Duo, had been priced around $200 more than its Apple rival. However, prices went plummeting later on. With rock bottom levels too having breached, the device line is being pulled. Dell had even brought in the Adamo XPS  Dell as a thinner version abut dropped it soon.

So we will never again to get to see the Adamo 13 that came with the aluminum casing, solid-state drives and ultra-power-efficient Intel Core 2 Duo processors. The Adamo line now belongs to the ages!
