Sony Ericsson Xperia Play Exclusively Available in Canada Through Rogers

February 8, 2011, By Alex Ion

If the Xperia Play is said to release in the UK without any exclusivity rights, with T-Mobile, O2, Vodafone and Orange all taking a shot at releasing it to their customers, things are bit different in Canada where Rogers will be the only carrier to launch the Playstation phone — at least for a while.

According to a tipster in contact with the folks from MobileSyrup, the Xperia Play is coming to Canada, exclusively heading to Rogers. So far it has been confirmed on their website that the device will be available to their customers, but there’s no word regarding pricing or a launch date.

There are a lot of people interested in buying the Xperia Play but many have complained that Rogers just isn’t an option. What do you think? Did SE just made a mistake, giving the Canadian carrier exclusivity rights?

As soon as we have more info, we’ll update you, but our guesses are that you’ll have to wait until February 13, when MWC 2011 kicks in Barcelona.
