11 year old boy Racks up 1000 Euros Xbox LIVE Bill

February 8, 2011, By Christian Davis

That’s 1,082.52 euros to be exact. 11 year old  Brendan Jordan managed to create such a high bill without realizing all the purchases were being made on his mom’s,Dawn Matthews’, debit card.

What was he buying? Accessories, new games, and Xbox LIVE time through the Xbox Dashboard after it saved the details of a previous debit card.

The mother only thought that entering her debit card information would only enable him to play online with friends. She blames Microsoft for making things too easy, but Microsoft has made it clear that it’s not their fault.

Microsoft’s goal is to provide parents and caregivers with tools and resources to manage their children’s gaming and entertainment experiences so that they can play in ways that are safer, healthy and more balanced.

‘To accomplish this, we’ve built-in parental controls in every Xbox 360, work closely with retailers and recently launched the Play Smart, Play Safe website as an online resource for families.

‘It should also be noted that LIVE accounts registered for children’s use have online activity automatically defaulted to off, these can be enabled by the parent should they wish in the Family Settings section.

The mother won’t punished the boy because he burst into tears when he found out. Stating that he feels bad enough.
